Success at Premier Groom 2011!!!!

On Sunday 14th August 2011, I took first place in the Open Poodle Class at the well known grooming competition Premeir Groom, held at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. I took one of my own dogs this time, Dotty, who has never competed before and also had pups only 5 months ago. She was an absolute star. Pics to follow, a very proud day!!

Success at the British Grooming Championships 2010!!

On 24th October I made the long journey down to the Kennel Club Buildings at Stonleigh to compete in the British Dog Grooming Championships. I competed with a clipped cocker spaniel (Daisy). I came first in my class, winning the experienced gundog class. This then put me through to the Best in Show for the experienced group, and I came runner up out of 6 other first place winners. It was a long day but so worth the 2.30 a.m start, Daisy was an absolute star and a true professional throughout. Very pleased!!!!!!!

I competed in Premier Groom this year, a well known grooming competition organised by Groom Team England and Redcape. Sponsored by lots of big names like Mikki and Ascuelap it is attended by groomers from all over England, (and international groomers too!)
I competed in the Spaniel and Setter class with a clipped Cocker Spaniel (Daisy) and got 2nd place! I was very proud of Daisy as she hadnt attended anything like this before, and very pleased with my acheivement!
It was all filmed by a TV Crew, so I am hoping they got our better side……!!!

Advanced City and Guilds

After three practical and one written exam I now have the nationally accredited qualification City and Guilds Advanced Dog Grooming, complete with distinction and credit! One of few groomers in the area to hold this certificate, I would like to thank all my customers and canine models who made this possible!

Race 4 Life

Gloss and Dog Hair

The salon has been closed for refurbishment this weekend, and it has been all hands to the pump to get it all finished ready for a busy week ahead! All work is finished now, and with its new floor, refurbished bath and fresh paint it is like a whole new salon. I dont, however, expect any of the dogs to notice! So even more reason to come visit Nose 2 Tail, just dont comment on the odd dog hair in the gloss…..

Trialling DAP Diffuser

I want the grooming experience at Nose 2 Tail to be good for all dogs, but some of the dogs- who perhaps come into grooming late, rescue dogs etc can get a bit apprehensive of the grooming procedure. For example, they dont like water/hairdryer/nails clipped etc. So before Christmas I decided to trial the DAP dog diffuser in the salon. As I understand it DAP works by using a synthetic pheremone similar to the pheremone released by a nursing bitch to her pups. This is comforting and in challenging times can relax dogs and ease their minds a little. I have used this on my dogs through firework season and was pleased with the results. So I decided to trial the diffuser at the salon in order to help those nervous dogs who need a little extra reassurance. The results have been very positive, dogs who have previously been unsettled have settled quicker and have been less flighty, and my overall impression of the results are that using the DAP diffuser has helped a few sensitive customers to cope with the grooming procedure better.

Therefore I will be continuing the use of this at Nose 2 Tail, I only wish there was a human equviliant!!

Booking in with Nose 2 Tail could end up with more than just a fabulously groomed dog! Occasionally (dogs permitting!) I compete in grooming competitions, and I am always training in new aspects of grooming, so sometimes need dogs to compete with. The criteria is quite strict, for example the dogs have to be ok with other dogs, and be steady to work with, good to travel etc, but if I decide your dog is right for what I require, then all the treatments, baths and trims up to the exam/competition are half price! So you never know, you might have Britains next top dog model sat snoozing at your feet?!
